Portrait of Anna Armstrong

Anna Armstrong

Representative, Eastern Washington Tribal Kalispel Tribe

Anna Armstrong is the Director of Education at Kalispel Tribe and has worked at The Camas Learning Center since 2005. She is currently the 1st vice chair of the Washington State Native American Education Advisory Committee and serves as Elder East on the Washington State Indian Education Association. Anna is also involved in the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program Advisory board and the Court Appointed Special Advocate board.

She believes that “Working for my tribe is the most rewarding job I’ve ever had.  I often talk about Chief Massaslaws’ desire to bring education to the tribe, and I do all I can to continue his work.  It is just good to work to improve and help my community.  I like that I will benefit as an elder by creating such kind and intelligent youth to take care of me and my tribe one day.”

Anna is a state certified teacher for her Salish language and believes in the importance of providing cultural understanding of tribal ways to school staff and administrators.
