Early Childhood Development Outcomes

The DCYF Oversight Board Subcommittees met throughout calendar year 2021, but have not reconvened at this time due to considerations about structure and resources. Further consideration of subcommittees is underway.

Early Childhood Development Outcomes

As identified in the legislation that established DCYF, the Early Childhood Development Outcomes Subcommittee will review the agency’s performance on identified outcomes and metrics in this specific areas of focus. Those outcomes and measures are as follows:

RCW 43.216.015(3)(c)(i): Improving child development and school readiness through voluntary, high quality early learning opportunities as measured by:

  1. Increasing the number and proportion of children kindergarten-ready as measured by the Washington kindergarten inventory of developing skills (WaKIDS) assessment including mathematics;
  2. Increasing the proportion of children in early learning programs that have achieved the level 3 or higher early achievers quality standard; and
  3. Increasing the available supply of licensed child care in both child care centers and family homes, including providers not receiving state subsidy;
